Field Notes The Chicago Look - Set of 2
Introducing the Field Notes âThe Chicago Lookâ Edition, 66th Quarterly Limited Release for Spring 2025. This edition pays homage to a pivotal chapter in American design and typographic history, spotlighting the iconic style pioneered by the Beverly Sign Co. Known for their âpanelizedâ compositions, innovative typography, and bold colors, their work defined what became known as âThe Chicago Look.â
Designed in collaboration with Chicagoâs own Heart & Bone Signs and sign-painting legend Bob Behounek, the two cover designs replicate Beverlyâs original pencil sketches, complete with the distinctive diagonal âstrike-thruâ marks used to indicate colors to clients and painters.
These notebooks introduce a new, larger size to our lineup, measuring 6â Ă 8â, and contain 64 graph-ruled pages printed in âNon-Repro Blue,â a shade traditionally used in the graphic arts for its ease of removal from black-and-white artwork reproductions. As always, the inside covers are filled with historical insights, illustrations, and our signature wit.
Celebrate the legacy of Chicagoâs mid-century sign-painting scene with this unique edition, perfect for designers, typographers, and anyone passionate about the intersection of art and history.
